Idea and Image indicates the marriage of image and concept. The poetic means which the composer employs to convey the imagery beauty reflects the creative motivation and concept behind the composition, in which the void and the solid are coexisted to complement each other. the void connotes the solid, and vice versa. It aims to pursue the intangible, spiritual beauty of the sensual imagery. Idea and Image was completed in 1989 and had its world premiere in the same year at the Taiwan National Theater Concert Hall. 意與象，指的是形象與意境的結合。作曲者從詩詞形象表現的意象美，反射為本曲創作的動機與意念，曲中虛實相生，虛中有實，實裡透虛，以求感性形象中的空靈與意境。. ※本曲1989年完成，同年於國家音樂廳舉行世界首演。.
