This delightful piece. don't let the title fool you, it's definitely not a dirge. is part funk shuffle, part swing shuffle and part vintage Paul Schaeffer rock shuffle. A bluesy melody gives way to a first reserved then "no holds barred" tenor solo peppered with ensemble figures. Just when it appears the groove will consume the band, some surprising twists interrupt, leading to the swinging shout and return of the funk head. Don't miss this one--it's a hit.
