Holberg Suite. opus 40 was originally written for piano and then arranged for strings. Ludwig Holberg was a dramatist who got the nickname 'Moliere of Northern Europe'. In this suite Grieg used several old dances. sarabande, gavotte, rigaudon. with completely new original harmonies. Willy Hautvast made this fine arrangement of the 'Air', a subtle andante religioso, extracted from this suite.
