Although one can strive for original music in the field of the wind orchestra, the arrangement still has its place. When one hears Mozart's moving masonic funeral music played by a symphonic or fanfare band, one can be forgiven for thinking that the composer had actually composed it with this instrumentation in mind. This is even more the case with lesser known classical works when the listener may well be unfamiliar with the composition.
