In the process of sketching this melody, some bacon grease popped up, got my hand pretty good and I yelled "Man, that cat is hot. " Hence the title, "Los Gatos en el Fuego" or "The Cat in the Fire. " This arrangement has three main sections, with the middle section in a 12. 8 latin feel. a la "La Suerte de los Tontos". Overall, this selection is quite difficult, due to the complex chords, disjunct melody lines and the screaming first trumpet part. The solos are in tenor sax and alto sax.
