In the 18th century, teaching caged birds to imitate and sing songs was a lucrative and popular pass-time. In this arrangemet for Wind Quintet, by Jeffrey wilson, some of the tunes are used as material for the dialogue between the players. The musical themes are taught and learnt quickly but in this fast moving age, one can only marvel at the patience of the flageolet player of early eighteenth century America.
