Arranged by Jane E. Andrews. Christmas. Set of 16 octavos. Published by UNC Jazz Press (NC.VJ1926).This arrangement of the German carol, Still, Still, Still, strives to present the lovely text in a warm, gentle manner. Beginning with the first verse of this strophic work, the men and women alternate between the unison melody and a seventh chord accompaniment. Transition to the second verse moves from the traditional duple meter to triple meter in a "bell-like" pattern reminiscent of the early Puerling arrangements and continues the accompaniment while the sopranos sing the verse in German. Returning to duple meter, the final verse broadens with a ground bass type figure below the melody and ends with a gentle quote of Silent Night by the men. SATB a cappella.
