The piece begins quietly as if you were entering a forest. You are greeted by birds, and animals and perhaps a river. The piece grows and becomes more dissonant, like nature has been agitated. However, nature always has a way of resolving itself."In The Forest" was written for the 2013 CIM Young Composers Program, and has been performed multiple times by the Ars Futura Ensemble. It has also been awarded the 2014 Third Millennium Ensemble Pre-College Prize, and was a 2014 American Prize semifinalist in Student Chamber Music Composition.
