The second oboe concerto, this concerto contains a few actual quotations from the Mozart Oboe Concerto, particularly in the first movement. The first movement, the shortest, is quite ordinary, but the second movement is in a type of theme and variations, with the oboist stating the main theme, and then playing elaborate figurations above the main theme played in the orchestra. The movement is unusual in that it's style differs greatly from the outer two movements, being in a style similar to my Mystic Dances.
