I hadn't played any classical pieces in a while, but I was able to pick this up easily. I think some of my young guitar students who have almost mastered the notes in first position may be ready for this soon. It is NOT an absolute beginner piece, but it's easy for someone who can read, knows about accidentals, and knows some of the notes beyond first position.

Mhm - I've only been playing the guitar for a year (acoustic) and I picked up the classical guitar 2 months ago, and I absolutely agree, anyone familiar with accidentals and the first position can play this. That said, the later parts of Fur Elise are by no means for beginners - much as I struggled to learn them, it was all for naught.
