Texty: Shad Blair. Uptown Living.
I woke up on the floor last night
couldn't keep from the cold
but the rents good so i stick around
got no place to go
there's this woman i love but she just laughs me off
tosses her hair back says maybe another day
and i swear to god the don't ever shine
this uptown livin about to make me lose my mind
if i could hop a freight train back to my hometown
maybe see my brothers and lose this frown
or i could drive down to the river where jesus saved my soul
yes this uptown livin has really taken it's toll
it seems to me the days keep getting harder
trying to fight this traffic mob and at the same time earn a dollar
i thought i'd be better off leavin my hometown
but i find myself wanting to get back there everyday now
so i don't need none of your big city lines just point my truck westward man before i lose my mind
